Utilitarian & Sophisticated
Sage to Sea Designs stands with marginalized communities. We donate 5% of all sales to organizations that are fighting for racial and LGBTQ justice. We rotate the organizations we support quarterly. We are currently supporting Camp Ten Trees, a socially-just, youth-empowered camp community for youth of lGBTQ and nontraditional families, LGBTQ youth and their allies.
Our designs are inspired by the beauty of the Northwest, from high desert sage brush to the Pacific Ocean. We are passionate about handcrafting pieces that are casual and sophisticated at the same time. We combine utilitarian construction with clean, minimalist design elements that come together to create a simple, but elevated look that holds up with time. Our bags are designed to make a seamless transition from work to play and everything in between. We believe in using only the best materials that will withstand the elements and the test of time. All of our items are made from Martexin waterproof waxed canvas and extremely high quality leather tanned in the US. We hand cut all of our pieces from yards of fabric and sides of leather and love every step of the process. Creating functional items from raw materials is satisfying work and we love sharing what we do with others. We're committed to sourcing as many materials as possible from small businesses located in the US. |
The Makers
Sarah Larson Since I was young, I've been driven by a need to use my body and hands to create. I've always been busy with one project or another, spending my free time creating functional things, whether handmade paper or felted slippers. In 2017, my mother taught me how to sew and together, we designed my first backpack. Starting that day, I've had an insatiable appetite for designing and handcrafting bags of all kinds. In 2010, I moved to Washington state to be closer to the mountains and trees. I'm most connected to myself when I'm outdoors and recognize that when I'm in the woods, everything feels possible. I'm in perpetual awe of the beauty that surrounds me and use that inspiration to bring direction to my work, from the functionality of our designs to the colors and textures we use. My aim is to bring you functional, sophisticated bags without frills but with all the essential elements: durability, versatility, and of course--beauty.. Davíd Urbina I am a creator, a designer, and an avid outdoorsman. I find solace under a forest canopy or an open sky and when my hands are busy working. I am lucky to have a partner who feels the same way. The smell of leather, the sound of the sewing machine, and the soft, but durable feel of waxed canvas all delight my senses and help to ground me in my work. Similarly, the feel of rock beneath my feet, the sound of waves crashing upon the shore, and the smell of fresh pine and fir keep me centered and remind me of the beauty of this part of the world we live in. I am able to meld my various passions in our studio by designing functional and durable leather and waxed canvas goods that are inspired by the time I spend outside in the Pacific Northwest. My goal is simple--to make designs that feel good, look good and that are built to last. The human aspect of what we do is incredibly important to us--please reach out and say hello! |
